Quarter Ending

Before I built a wall I'd ask to know What I was walling in or walling out, And to whom I was like to give offense. -Robert Frost
This Friday, December 7 marks the end of the second quarter. The students, at least some of them, are in the midst of trying to catch up on missing work.
Today, all classes are having Math tests with an additional twist: They may not ask me for help. A review was held for each class, and, as usual, those in most need of review were not paying attention. The test grade is weighed very heavily in the grading structure.
In 7th & 8th grades we will begin a new chapter in Social Studies, chapter 8.
The 5th & 6th grades will be finishing chapter 19 this week with a test soon after, possibly this Friday, December 7.
5th & 6th grade Science will be finishing chapter 2. There will not be a test for those who complete the solid, liquid, gas work and complete an activity (experiment). Chapter 3, though, will eventually have a test. This begins elements and the periodic table. Encourage your son or daughter to present a simple experiment, which provides them with a test-equivalent grade.
